Jason Mraz has followed a vegan diet ever since giving up meat and animal produce alongside a band member, who had discovered he had type 2 diabetes. Mraz then described getting ‘hooked’ on vegan food, particularly a raw food diet (consisting of food that has not been refined, canned or chemically processed, and has not been heated above 48C) which he has said he sticks to about 75% of the time. Mraz often shares recipes on his social media and blog, including one for his all time favourite and easiest desserts “Chocomole”. In an interview he described the dish as “the easiest vegan dessert I can make on the road. You mash up a bunch of avocados until they become a pudding, then add dates, agave nectar, some coconut oil, and raw cacao. You mix that up, and suddenly you have a delicious chocolate mousse. I discovered that I could truly kick sugar when I started to satisfy my sweet tooth with raw desserts.” The star is so enamoured by the vegan lifestyle that he’s even created his own farm creating vegan alternatives to chocolate!

But I am a firm believer in eating a full plant-based, whole food diet that can expand your life length and make you an all-round happier person. It is tricky dining out, but I just stick to what I know – veggies, fruit and salad – then when I get home I’ll have something else.”

And if you’re tired of hearing the same old thing from your meat eating colleagues, Leona feels it too. In an interview with Buzzfeed she announced every veggie is tired of hearing the same old questions, like where do you get your protein from, claiming “there’s more protein in brocolli than in chicken, but it’s the number one thing people go to”. Oh, and if you were planning to invite her round for dinner, her favourite food is vegetarian Spaghetti Bolognaise.
