Get the Look Beauty: Ellen DeGeneres

We simply couldn’t ignore the temptation to assess our WCW’s effortless make-up look and recreate her simple and flawless face. Ellen DeGeneres does the ‘no make-up’ make-up look better than most and this is evident in the first shot of her – Ellen is rocking the minimal make-up on her show back in January of this year discussing the Oscar Nominations. We’re immediately drawn to her blinding glow and those rosy cheeks so obviously, we had to Get The Look

Step 1: Glowing from Within.

Ellen’s base really gives off the illusion of being lit from within and she’s practically glowing in every shot we see her in. We’ve chosen a blurring primer to smooth out any little lines and would definitely recommend illuminating drops mixed in with a medium coverage foundation to create that beaming base. Add a fairly creamy concealer under the eyes that is at least one shade lighter than your base to brighten everything up and the base is complete.

Step 2: A Rosy Cheek.

The rosy cheeks are always a staple on any Ellen DeGeneres make-up tutorial and we have found the best way to get that look is with cream products. We have listed a few options for a cream cheek colour to really make those apples pop! Cream products work really well on a glowing base as most powder products will dull the shine but we want to emphasise that. If there’s any areas of your face you want to softly set with a powder, a light dusting would be fine.

Step 3: The Eyes.

Ellen’s eyes are always very simple and we would suggest another cream product but this time, for the lids – a light layer of an eye shadow stick or cream based product will add a soft brown element that will add definition to the eye. When taking a step back and looking at Ellen’s eyes, we’d advise to smudge brown or black kohl liner to the outer part of the eye to create a small line. This will almost frame the eye and darken up the outer corners. Now for the lashes… we’ve listed a handful of good, lengthening mascaras worth their weight in gold. You’ll see that Ellen’s lashes are nice and dark and often, quite long and thick so we’d suggest you invest a little more into this product compared to your Highstreet brand mascara. Tinted brow gel is the way to go if you want to add something to the brows but from where we’re standing, Ellen leaves them light and natural – if you’ve missed your recent threading appointment, this will actually help to Get the Look

Step 4: Finishing touches.

For Ellen’s lips, she often showcases a tinted lip balm or clear/nude gloss so we’ve got you covered with all of the lip options. To finish it off with our central cream theme, a little helping of liquid or cream highlight to emphasise those higher points will finish our Get the Look of beautifully. As always, a spritz of setting spray before you leave the house and you’re good to go!
