Get the Beauty Look – Dua Lipa

The woman to watch this year has definitely been mega babe Dua Lipa and we can’t help but feel a (little) twang of jealousy when this one gets photographed. From her individual style to her flawless skin, this girl has it going on. Her album cover is serious make-up goals and yes, there are countless photos of Dua Lipa looking in-cred-ible but with all that dewy goodness and brows to die for, how could we resist trying to get the look of this infamous shot?

Step 1: Don’t pick up the hairdryer.

Firstly, can we just talk about the hair? That beautiful sweeping fringe element and the wet-look is very easy to achieve with freshly washed, or even just lightly water spritzed, hair. Grab a fine comb and toss the fringe to the opposite side and you’ve immediately created that height at the front. In addition to the wet hair, spray some goodness into it to add more volume and definition and then pull it all over to the same side as the fringe. Lipa locks in no time.

Step 2: Don’t let it matte.

The base – oh my goodness, the base – is actually flawless. We’d like to believe that there’s not a single airbrush in sight and with the products we’re recommending, it can be easily recreated. With the primer, blurring is the way forward. With this look, we’d do concealer first and definitely go lighter than your skin tone – Lipa’s under eyes are bush-baby bright and we love it. The foundation has to be silky smooth but that glow can only be created if you’re mixing in a generous few pumps of liquid highlight – some would opt for one pump, we’d go for three – why not… let it glow!

Step 3: Don’t be afraid to be wild.

Dua Lipa’s eyes offer the wow factor and we’ve got to take this slowly to ensure we get it right! Firstly, start with the brows – brush them thoroughly and up ever so slightly to create a full brow. We’d recommend a fine brow pen/liner to add extra “hairs” to the centre and outer corners of the brow. Set it with some clear gel and the brows are done. For the eyes, I’d recommend a tiny pump of liquid highlight in a skin tone colour to act as a glowy eyeshadow. The mascara is ultra-black and insanely voluminous – we’d advise to curl them first and then brush downwards with a good mascara to create a little bit of clumping and a lot of volume. The eyes definitely have it in this shot!

Step 4: If you’re underlining, you ain’t getting that lip.

To start with, use a plumping balm or treatment to create a fuller lip and then get the liner out. Overline with a nude liner in a tone that screams ‘your lips, but better’ and then go over with a matching lipstick in a creamy finish with only a little shine factor. Add highlight to the outer edges of the lips to create a glowing pout.

Step 5: I got the glow, I’ll get him.

Okay… highlight everywhere. Add a rosy glow to the cheeks with a pink blush and then get the fan brush out. We want highlight on the nose, the chin, the inner corners of the eyes, the Cupid ’s bow, the tops of the cheeks. Set with a spritz of setting spray and you are “Hotter than Hell”.
