Our Man Crush Monday this week is Marvel’s newest superhero Chadwick Boseman. Boseman made a brief appearance as T’Challa aka Black Panther in this year’s blockbuster Captain America: Civil War and will be donning the costume again in the lead role for the highly anticipated comic book film Black Panther which will be released in November next year…
Least likely to…turn down another biopic role. He says, “People have said, ‘You don’t need to do any more biopics. You don’t need to play any more real people.’ I don’t agree with that.”
Impress him with…sports. He says, “I’m the kind of guy who comes home and checks scores for everything. I’m a sports fan in general, so I pretty much keep up with who’s ahead in a division and everything that’s going on.”
Mention…Jimi Hendrix. Boseman has played three iconic men on-screen so far including baseball legend Jackie Robinson (42) and James Brown (Get on Up). He’d love to add Jimi Hendrix to this list.
And another thing…Boseman majored in directing and prefers to refer to himself as an artist instead of an actor. He explains, “I started out as a writer and a director. I started acting because I wanted to know how to relate to the actors. When people ask me what I do, I don’t really say that I’m an actor, because actors often wait for someone to give them roles.”
