Oscar Hair 2018: How to Get the Look

It’s hard not to love the drama of The Oscars; the winners, losers, blunders, looks – you name it. We all tune in with millions of others to watch our fave celebrities on one of the biggest nights of Hollywood’s calendar. No outfit goes unrecognised, no statement look escapes admiration and the hairdressers and make up artists are hailed Gods for their genius work. Making hair work with makeup and dress in harmony is no mean feat, but who came out on top this year? We share our best tips to help you get red carpet hair for your next evening affair.

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence came through with enviable hair of bright blonde curls. You can get the look by using oversized tongs to transform your hair from beach waves to full glamour curls – you may even want to go bold with the blonde, too. Jennifer’s subtle roots give this look a natural vibe, so maybe you could delay your trip to the hairdressers until after you’ve sported this look.

Sandra Bullock

Bobs are hot news and Sandra sports one with style to spare. It is fair to say that bobs can be difficult with an evening dress, but styling with a vent or paddle brush for straight down locks means you can rock a slick bob that looks as glamorous as Sandra’s. Serum or a little dab of coconut oil thoroughly worked through your hair will give you the super slick look Sandra had the press doting over.

Sophia Carson

If you wanted to be striking in red with slick, styled hair for your next evening affair, then take inspiration from Sophia Carson. Her simple glam is effortless, yet holds such attention to detail, while letting her gown take centre stage. Get the look by drying your hair flat, touching it with oil to flatten and pinning it secure at the back.

Haley Bennett

Haley Bennett looked totally fabulous in Dior, showing us all just how to mix a bob with cool, soft waves. The added fringe tuned with her great dress was undeniably glam. Get the look by using oversized tongs and curling sections vertically, and dress with fingers to break up the surface. The effortlessness of Haley’s glam prove the natural spin hair stylists were adding to looks this Oscar’s season.

Molly Sims

Molly Sims showed us how to wear long polished waves with stunning effect in perfect unison with a subtle slit dress. Get the look with oversized tongs, but brush with a Mason Pearson to polished perfection. No need for grips to secure this look – a little spritz of hairspray and a gentle scrunch will keep these curls in place all night.

Blanca Blanco

Blanca Blanco shows how to turn up the heat by dialling down the hair. The hair up style  softly contrasts her strong striking outfit. Arrange soft curls in pieces and secure as you go with grips and pins.
