Joseph Altuzarra launched his first women’s ready to wear collection in 2008 and since then has a accumulated no less than then five awards and accolades including CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund prize in 2011, the Swarovski Award for Womenswear Design in 2012 as well as Forbes 30 under 30 in the same year. Born in Paris to a French father and Chinese-American mother, Altuzarra didn’t get into fashion design the conventional way. He instead obtained a Art History degree and upon graduating interned with the likes of Marc Jacobs and Proenza Schouler before assisting renowned patternmaker Nicolas Caito. He then returned to Paris to assist Riccardo Tisci at Givenchy and the rest , as they say, is history. Here are just five of some of our favourite red carpet looks from the brand…
Evan Rachel Wood
Westworld star Evan Rachel Wood sure loves a suit on the red carpet and she pulled it off with aplomb in this beautifully tailored tuxedo suit from Altuzarra at the Golden Globes earlier this year.
Model and front row fixture Emily Ratajkowski could almost be described as demure in this striking maxi dress and thigh high boot combo from the brand’s AW15 collection which she wore to the MTV VMA’s back in 2015. She’s definitely one of the few celebrities who could pull this look off without looking over-styled.
Mackenzie Davis opted for Altuzarra for her first time at the annual Met Ball in 2016. The Halt and Catch Fire star was easily one of the best dressed attendees from the night nailing the “Manus x Machina” theme.
The actress was heavily pregnant here at the premiere of Gone Girl and scored brownie points for going for something a little different and unexpected with this accommodating top and maxi skirt combo from the brand’s Resort 2015 collection.
Shameless US star Emmy Rossum looked smoking in this fitted midi dress from the brand’s Resort 2015 collection. Rossum was attending the LA premiere of her film You’re Not You back in 2014. A perfect example of how a LBD can rock the red carpet!
