American designer Tadashi Shoji is synonymous with glam. Born in Japan Shoji moved to the US in 1973 to study fashion design. Upon graduating he secured a job assisting industry acclaimed costume designer ill Whitten. Whitten was responsible for some of the fabulous outfits sported by legends such as Stevie Wonder, Neil Diamond, Elton John and the late Michael Jackson. In 1982 Shoji launched his self titled luxury label. Between 2002 and 2007 the brand sponsored the annual Miss Universe pageant. The same year that the sponsorship ended Tadashi Shoji made his fashion week debut during New York Fashion Week in September 2007. Loyal fans of the brand include Katy Perry, Octavia Spencer, Dita Von Teese, Helen Mirren and Kate Beckinsale…
Singer Demi Lovato opted for this gorgeous floral cut-out gown from Tadashi Shoji’s resort 2017 collection. The dress, which could double up as a luxury beach cover-up, garnered Lovato plenty of positive reviews on the ‘blue carpet’ at the LA premiere of Smurfs: The Lost Village
Tadashi Shoji are one of a small handful of designers that work with stars that aren’t sample size. One of the brand’s regular bespoke clients is Oscar-winning actress Octavia Spencer. The Hidden Figures star opted for this flattering custom made peplum-waist gown for her attendance to the SAG Awards in January this year. Spencer gets a 10/10 from us for this outfit – this is definitely one of her best red carpet looks!
The Teenwolf actress went for a touch of the whimsical in this bandeau mini dress with feather embellishment from the brand’s SS17 collection. Roden was attending the MTV Movie and TV Awards earlier this month and fittingly looked a lot more edgier than she usually does.
The former Glee star turned to Tadashi Shoji during her pregnancy for an event appropriate evening gown for the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner back in 2015. The long sleeved gown showed a hint of skin as it has a draped cowl back and is actually from the brands AW15 collection. Maternity dress goals or what!?
Chinese superstar Fan Bingbing channelled some ‘Old Hollwood’ style glamour in a lace and red velvet fitted gown from the AW12 collection. Bingbing, who regularly top best dressed lists, turned heads at the Beijing Film Festival in 2012.
