Transformation Tuesday: Nicki Minaj

Transformation Tuesday: Nicki Minaj

Unless you’ve been living under a rock (or you’re over the age of 30) you’ll have no doubt be privy to the heat Nicki Minaj is suffering at the hands of fellow rapper Remy Ma following her diss track ‘Shether’. If you haven’t heard the track here’s the link – (if you’re listening at work wear headphones cause there’s lots of swearing). With many signalling this as an end to Nicki’s career – well, at least in the credibility sense. So on that note we thought we’d look at some of the positives of rap’s self-proclaimed Barbie doll and that would be her style evolution from Barbie Doll on acid to …

Minaj began her career in 2004 and adopted a “glamour model” look whilst she climbed the rungs. Hot pants, tacky long boots and tight tops – no different to a lot of the popular, young female stars in the early 2000s to be fair. Whilst the rapper had the looks her style screamed more wannabe than star!

In 2013 news broke that Nicki had fired her whole glam team (hairstylist, makeup artist and stylist) in an effort to be taken seriously as a credible artist. And wow what a difference it made! Her natural beauty was able to shine through and Minaj stunned on the red carpet at the 2013 BET Awards flashing just enough flesh to keep the look sexy but classy…

We’re glad that Nicki realised that she doesn’t have to dress over the top to get attention. A well fitted, sexy, maxi dress, natural makeup and sleek hair works 10 times better!

To ring in the New Year Nicki rocked a simple plunge neck jumpsuit, killer heels and waist length braids. Fire! Now let’s hope that Nicki Minaj hurries up and pens an impressive response to Remy Ma otherwise she may have to go into hiding like Meek Mill…
