They say: ‘Amazing water doesn’t grow on trees it grows in them’. Unlike maple syrup the tree’s water isn’t high in sugar, in fact maple water has only about half the sugar of coconut water (less than 1.5g per 100ml), but does contain 46 other nutrients, including more manganese than a cup of kale – a nutrient which plays an important role in our bodies’ energy systems.
We say: As the makers state this drink is no way near as sweet as maple syrup – it definitely has a faint hint of it and much like coconut water I found that it has an acquired taste. Oh, and it smells divine! The first time I tried the drink it was room temperature and although it wasn’t unpleasant it was much nicer when I chilled it. The drink is marketed at gym goers and athletes and rightly so. You get that nice kick of sugar that’s needed after a good workout which will stop you craving less healthy sugary snacks.
