Woman Crush Wednesday: Olivia Palermo

This week’s Woman Crush Wednesday is Olivia Palermo. The American socialite and cast member of the reality TV series The City,  Olivia has recently teamed up again with Banana Republic to launch an epic 70-piece collaboration for AW17 which was presented recently at New York Fashion Week. Palermo said on USA Today that the collection is what “You can keep in your wardrobe and build on. Something you should think about when investing is, am I going have this piece as I get older? Can I wear this when I’m 16 and can I wear this when I’m 70?”

Why we love her…

Least likely to…go on another reality TV show. Palermo stated in the Los Angeles Times when the MTV’s hit show The City ended that she was “disappointed” being portrayed as the villain. Stating further “I’m a much nicer person, much more laid back and relaxed, not serious like they show me”.

Impress her with…ice hockey and lacrosse. Olivia was a tomboy growing up and frequently took part in sporting activities.

Mention…her mother Lynn Hutchings. She was a major influence in Olivia’s life. Palermo said earlier this year in The Telegraph that “my mother taught me at a very young age to look your best at all times”.

And another thing…Olivia is keeping herself busy by also fronting the new AW17 collection Coast Friday for the high street brand Coast. Inspired by the iconic street style; modern tailoring and luxe outerwear take centre stage. This is the American star’s third campaign with the high street store and if you want to emulate her looks then the collection is available at coast-stores.com

I’m a business and fashion graduate working in Merchandising and have come from an analytical background working in various industries. I am an inquisitive person so enjoy researching trends and I am also a fitness fanatic, partaking in any gym classes that challenge me and through sheer determination I have lost 6 stone (although weirdly enough I still do not like running as it reminds me of doing cross country at school). My favourite fashion trend is minimalist chic and I tend to dress based on my mood. So casual one day to a tailored, more polished look the next and no dislikes of trends that I can think of. I love the TV show ‘Scandal’ and although I am not a big reader; my favourite book that I never get tired of reading is ‘The Beautiful Fall: Fashion, Genius & Glorious Excess in 1970’s Paris’.
