Despite having a film and TV career that began in 1997 Taraji P. Henson remained relatively unknown outside of the US until her role as Cookie Lyon in the hugely popular drama series Empire. Our Woman Crush Wednesday shouldn’t be a new face to us Brits though as she has a leading role in the popular Channel 5 crime drama Person of Interest and has appeared in blockbusters such as Think Like A Man, The Karate Kid (2010) and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button…
Least likely to…be typecast. Henson is keen to not play the same roles over and over again. She states, “…that’s why I prefer features over television.”
Impress her with…chivalry. She says, “A woman is gentle, soft, delicate, and a man’s position is to protect her, help her up stairs, make sure she’s in the car safely first. Take good care of your woman, and the sky’s the limit!”
Mention…superheros. Henson has stated that she would love to play a superhero one day. She says, “I wish I could be in The Avengers, kicking butt.”
And another thing…whilst saving up for university one of Henson’s many jobs was a secretary in the Pentagon.
